Well, I Know What That Is Like!
Yes, I was a financial adviser, my wife and I both had 6 figure incomes and a young family, I could run my business well, we were winning awards, I was travelling the world, I was on Boards and President of a sports club, but was still asking myself if there was more to life!
Don't get me wrong, I was grateful for everything, however I still had this deep sense of dissatisfaction. As a result I found myself on the treadmill, turning up to run my business everyday like a robot and getting lost in the daily grind of juggling work and family life.
I was lacking a way to articulate my values and purpose with my daily life and direction.
It even impacted how I approached our personal finances . We had lots of accounts, mortgages, Trusts and increasing general living expenses (kids cost a lot of money!)....and managing the daily finances and acivities became a job that I found myself avoiding....even as a financial adviser!!!! Imagine the stress this caused the family, my wife wasn't happy!

Then, I came across a system that changed my life and our business forever....
I was asked to go to the US with a group of other top financial advisers and look into a system called Values-Based Financial Planning™. We took the 14 hour flight across the Pacific Ocean and submerged ourselves in a 6 Day Program.
To cut a long story short, I loved the program so much that when I got back I convinced my business partners to sign up to the 4 year program and commit over $200,000 to learn and implement the system. This included over a dozen further trips for training. I also had to sell the idea to my wife as our 3 children were very young at the time.

These were great achievements personally, however, what I really wanted to do was find a way to build a system that created even more value for less money
Ever since I was a young boy in Samoa running around the family rock pools, I was taught to respect and help others. So, it is deeply important for me to keep finding ways to grow and create value for more people.
Having sold my previous financial planning business to a global company, I have created My Live Plan as the next evolution to helping others.
First Step - A Solution Paid For Out Of My Own Pocket
The biggest factor that I saw impacting clients wealth was cashflow and their ability to save. This was backed up by research in the US that showed the largest determinant of household wealth for many people is how much they choose to save over time, with investment decisions making only 7% difference.
In fact one of my biggest clients who had a 7 figure income would only talk about cashflow and building up their savings portfolio.
Armed with this knowledge I created an online Cashflow solution to automatically categorise monthly expenses, called Impact Savings, This collates data from over 80 financial institutions and saves people the hassle of spreadsheets, showing them exactly where they are spending their money and their net savings potential. I chose this because in Australia:

So an online solution for this market seemed the best way forward. I won an Award with the Association of Goals Based Advisers. At our launch there was a lot of buzz, advisers and institutions were ready to use it to help more people.......then Covid happened.......and all new things were put on hold. and Covid kept happening......and happening....and keeps on happening!

I had to rethink things and knew that going straight to market with an online solution, in an area that most people find boring or think is too confusing, was going to take a lot more marketing dollars than I cared to spend.
